Student Council “Homecoming”
The Department of Media and Communication Student Council, “Homecoming,” has a long-standing tradition that reflects the history of the major itself. As a student-led organization, it serves as a space for integration, autonomy, and active participation among students.
The Student Council organizes various activities to promote student engagement and community, including snack distribution during exam periods, general membership training (MT), and social events such as one-day pubs.
Media Production Club “Maeumdamgi”
“Maeumdamgi” is a media production club dedicated to learning and practicing video creation. Members engage in studies on photography and camera techniques, which form the foundation of video production, as well as analyzing film and drama content.
Based on this foundation, members carry out the full process of video production—from planning to editing—and showcase their work each semester. In a curriculum with limited hands-on production courses, “Maeumdamgi” provides valuable opportunities to create projects of meaningful scale.
The club is particularly beneficial for students interested in broadcasting or film production. Works produced by members can be submitted to the department’s media festival, as well as external film festivals and competitions, contributing to students’ portfolios.
Theater Group “Mommāl”
What you gain from university depends on what you choose to do. When trying something new, rather than viewing it as unfamiliar or intimidating, it should be seen as an opportunity to fully commit yourself. The experience gained through such commitment becomes an invaluable personal asset.
Although the group began without prior experience or specialized knowledge in theater, members came together with their own motivations—whether to perform in front of an audience, to experience the passion unique to university life, or to express their creativity. Over time, these individual motivations have unified into a shared purpose.
Now, members work together each year toward the annual performance, which begins in mid-March. The Media and Communication theater group “Mommāl” is preparing its 40th production this year, continuing a tradition that began with the Class of 1974 and has persisted to the present.
With its long history, the group has a strong network of alumni and close relationships between seniors and juniors. “Mommāl” welcomes new members who wish to become part of this tradition. Theater is not as difficult as it may seem—anyone with interest and passion is encouraged to join. The group is always open.
